Dialysis Access Care

In order to provide the best dialysis access services to you, there are several procedures AVIC experts can perform:

Fistulagram

Peripheral Angioplasty

Peripheral Stenting
Fistula Creation

Fistula Maturation Procedures

Complete Catheter Services

Vessel Mapping

Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Via a small incision in the upper thigh, a catheter is used to navigate to the uterine arteries which supply the fibroids.  Small embolic particles are then delivered to cutoff the blood supply to the fibroids while retaining the viability of the uterus.  UFE is performed in the interventional radiology suite under conscious sedation.  Recovery is significantly shorter than for surgeries such as hysterectomy or myomectomy.  Numerous studies have shown safe and excellent results for heavy menses, pelvic pain, and bulk related symptoms.

Vein Procedures

Varicose veins are unsightly. But they can also be quite painful, causing throbbing, aching, cramping and even burning sensations.

Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure to treat the underlying cause of varicose veins.

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy is a cosmetic, minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat surface varicose veins and spider veins.

Gastrostomy Tube Placement

Peripheral Arterial Disease Treatment

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a common circulation problem in which the arteries that carry blood to the legs or arms become narrowed or clogged.

Angioplasty & Stenting : Interventional radiologists pioneered angioplasty and stenting, which was first performed to treat peripheral arterial disease. Using imaging for guidance, an AVIC specialist threads a catheter through the femoral artery in the groin to the blocked artery in the legs. Then he inflates a balloon to open the blood vessel where it is narrowed or blocked. In some cases this is then held open with a stent, a tiny metal cylinder. This is a minimally invasive treatment that does not require surgery, just a nick in the skin the size of a pencil tip.

Atherectomy : An atherectomy is a procedure in which an AVIC expert  inserts a specialized catheter into a blocked artery to remove a buildup of atherosclerotic plaque from within the vessel. The catheter contains a sharp rotating blade, grinding bit, or laser filament, as well as a collection system that permits removal of the plaque from the wall of the vessel and collection or suction of any resulting debris.

Genicular Artery Embolization

Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE) is a nonsurgical , minimally invasive procedure for patients with Osteoarthritis . GAE can help with eliminating knee pain and inflammation which are the main contributing factors of Osteoarthritis knee pain .

GAE procedure is performed in an outpatient setting , where our Interventional Radiologist navigates a small catheter into the artery of interest and deploys small particles. Reducing the blood supply to the artery will reduce the inflammation and pain caused by osteoarthritis
